Alaska State Regulations
In Alaska, all employers with one or more employees are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance, regardless of the employment arrangement (full-time, part-time, or seasonal). Sole proprietors and partners are exempt but can opt-in for coverage. Corporate officers and LLC members owning at least 10% of the business are excluded from mandatory coverage but may choose to be included. Alaska’s system emphasizes prompt medical treatment and fair compensation for injured workers. Compliance is monitored by the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Division, which imposes penalties for non-compliance to ensure that workers receive the necessary benefits and protections.
